Why answering faster grows your business

What a slow reply actually costs, what we measure across real pages — 8 seconds on average, 99 out of 100 within half a minute — and how to get your own page there.

A comment under your post is not feedback. It is a customer raising their hand.

«How much?» is a person who has decided they are interested and is waiting to be told what happens next. What you do in the following minutes decides whether they buy from you or from the next page they scroll past.

What waiting actually costs

Think about how the person on the other side behaves. They are not sitting still waiting for you. They asked you, and then they kept scrolling — and the next three pages sell something similar.

  • Someone who waits an hour has usually asked another shop by then.
  • Someone who asks at midnight and hears nothing until morning has had eight hours to change their mind.
  • Someone who asks on Friday and hears nothing until Sunday has, for practical purposes, not asked you at all.

None of that is a failure of effort. It is arithmetic: a person answers comments at human speed, and comments do not arrive at human speed. They arrive all at once, when a post does well — exactly when the answers matter most.

What speed looks like when it is measured

We measure this across the pages on our platform, and the numbers are the reason we keep building it:

  • More than 7,700 comments answered since we started.
  • About 8 seconds from a comment arriving to its reply being published, averaged over the last thirty days.
  • 99 out of every 100 answers went out within thirty seconds.
  • 620 private messages sent to interested people in the last thirty days.

Eight seconds is not a number a person can hit at nine in the morning when forty comments land at once. It is what happens when the first reply is automatic and your team's time goes to the conversations that need judgement.

Speed is only half of it — the inbox is where it closes

A fast public reply keeps the person's attention. It does not, by itself, sell anything. What sells is the message that lands in their inbox while they are still interested: the price, the photo, the location, a button that calls you.

That is why the two belong together. The public reply says «I've sent you the details», and the details are already there when they look.

There is a hard limit worth knowing: once someone messages your page, Meta gives you 24 hours to reply. After that you cannot write to them until they write again. Every hour you take is an hour out of that window.

Answering fast also grows the post itself

There is a second effect that is easy to miss. A post with many replies underneath keeps getting shown. Comments and replies are activity, and activity is what decides whether a post keeps circulating or quietly dies after two hours.

When every comment is answered, each one becomes a small conversation, and the post lives longer — so more people see it and more people comment. The answering is not only a service to the person who asked; it is what keeps the post alive.

What to look at on your own page

Before changing anything, find out where you actually stand:

  1. Open your last three posts that did well. Count the comments nobody answered.
  2. Look at the times. How long between the comment and your reply?
  3. Count how many of those people you sent a private message to.

Most pages find the same thing: the answers exist, they are just hours late, and almost nobody got a private message.

How to close the gap

You do not need to answer faster yourself. You need the first answer to be automatic and correct:

  • one reply for every post, in your words, using the person's name;
  • keyword answers for price, location and delivery;
  • a private message with the details, sent the moment someone comments;
  • a pause button for the conversations you want to take over yourself.

That is what Davar Tech does, and it is why the average on our platform is eight seconds rather than eight hours.
